About the Author

Gyulshat Esenova graduated from Turkmen State University, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan with a B.A. in German Language and Literature, and from Johnson and Wales University, Providence, RI with an A.S. in Culinary Arts/Chef training. She worked at one of the best cafes featuring Middle Eastern cuisine, the Sofra Bakery and Cafe in Cambridge, MA.


In this book, Gyulshat has combined her knowledge of native Turkmen food and its preparation with her professional American training in the culinary arts. Writing this book gives her the opportunity to share two of her talents and passions—writing and cooking. When Gyulshat is not cooking professionally, writing, or traveling, she is treating her friends to her delicious culinary creations.
